About Me

My name is Axel Foley, a 17-year-old content creator based in Brooklyn, New York, with a passion for storytelling and visual media. My journey began at age 10 when I received my first camera, a GoPro Hero 7, which I initially wanted to capture my skiing experiences. However, I quickly realized that filming was just the beginning—I needed a way to present my footage in a cohesive, compelling way. This realization sparked my interest in editing, and I began experimenting with iMovie, a platform I used extensively for the next four years. It was this hands-on learning that ignited my love for the craft of editing.

At 14, I transitioned to Adobe Premiere Pro, where I honed my skills by editing Rocket League montages for a friend’s YouTube channel. A year later, I made the shift to DaVinci Resolve, the platform I currently use for its superior color grading and post-production capabilities.

By the age of 15, I decided to fully commit to my passion for video creation, and that’s when I began saving for my first professional-grade camera. To fund this goal, I took a job at a local climbing gym at 16, and after some hard work, I was able to upgrade my plans and invest in a Sony a7 III paired with a Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 lens. This pivotal purchase in May 2023 marked the true beginning of my deeper exploration into the realms of cinematography and videography. Since then, I’ve been rigorously self-teaching the intricacies of filmmaking, from lighting and sound to composition and post-production.

Shortly after, I had the opportunity to work as a Production Assistant on a college film set at Brooklyn College, which opened doors for me to later serve as Director of Photography for another short film. I completed my first self-directed short film in December 2023, and since acquiring my camera, I’ve been deeply dedicated to evolving my skills in both videography and cinematography—yes, they are distinct disciplines—and have also begun to explore photography.

My ultimate goal is to master every aspect of video production, from pre-production elements such as screenwriting, mood boards, and shot lists, to the intricacies of production—lighting, sound, set design, and camera work—and finally, post-production, where color grading, sound design, special effects, CGI, and transitions bring the vision to life. I understand that consistency is key, so I strive to have a project in the works at all times. I’m constantly seeking to improve and am eager to collaborate with like-minded individuals who share my passion and can further expand my knowledge.
